Steering Clear of Title Loans (3 of 3) What to do if Youre Already Trapped

Steering Clear of Title Loans (3 of 3) What to do if Youre Already Trapped Steering Clear of Title Loans (3 of 3): What to do if Youre Already Trapped Steering Clear of Title Loans (3 of 3): What to do if Youre Already TrappedAny risky venture can always take a turn for the worse. If you go camping, you might get lost. If you go hang gliding, you might wind up stuck in a tree. If you enter a demolition derby, you might end up totaling your car â€" actually, you’ll definitely end up totaling your car. If you care about your car, there are two things you should never do: enter a demolition derby and take out a title loan.If you’ve already taken out that title loan, though, you may feel like it’s too late. Maybe you’re behind on payments and you’re worried that you won’t ever be able to repay the loan. You might be on the verge of losing your car. But don’t worry, you still have options.Option 1: Pay what you owe as soon as you canThese predatory loans typically have extremely high interest rates that build up the longer you take to pay them off. In some states, borrowers are allowed to rollover their loans, meaning they can extend the due date for an additional fee. But a lot of states have outlawed this practice as it leads to borrowers sinking deeper and deeper into debt. So if you have the funds, pay sooner rather than later.Option 2: Cancel or Modify the Loan“Woah, woah, woah. I can cancel my loan?” Well, maybe. Many secured loans contain grace periods. If you’re within this grace period, you may be able to cancel the loanâ€"the problem is that grace period is usually only 3 days from the date the loan was taken out. So if it’s not too late, you’ll need to do this immediately.Loan Modification is different. If you can show that your car is worth much less than what you owe you’re lender, you may be able to broker a compromise with your lender. The laws that mandate this are different state by state, so you’ll have to do your research before you try this method.1Option 3: Get outside counselCheck your loan’s paperwork and make sure you know all of the terms. Don’t rely on a pr edatory title lender to tell you what your rights are, read the paperwork for yourself. They may not be telling you the truth about every detail, and even keeping your options from you. Also, consider contacting a credit counselor. Not-for-profit credit counselors can be found at www.nfcc.org and elsewhere; they can help you restructure your debt and potentially negotiate with your lender. They’ll also advise you going forward on how to repair or minimize the damage done by predatory lenders. Learn more about picking a credit counselor in the blog Bad Credit Helper: How To Shop for a Credit Counselor. If you need a better loan that won’t risk your ride, consider a personal installment loan from OppLoans. We offer loans from $1,000-$5,000 with interest rates that are 70-125% lower than other personal lenders. You can apply at OppLoans.com and if you’re approved you can receive your money as soon as the next business day. We offer fast, safe loans that can help build your credit.Y ou won’t have to put your car on the line to take out one of our loans, so you can use your ride to enter a demolition derby instead! Or don’t. Actually definitely don’t, just use your car to drive to work and go on road trips and stuff. Stay away from demolition derbies all together. And stay away from title loans too.References:1. Mary Jemison (Dehgewanus) White Woman of the Genesee

Dates: 1743 - September 19, 1833 Known for: Indian captive, subject of captivity narrative Also known as: Dehgewanus, White Woman of the Genesee Mary Jemison was captured by Shawnee Indians and French soldiers in Pennsylvania on April 5, 1758. She was later sold to Senecas who took her to Ohio. She was adopted by the Senecas and renamed Dehgewanus. She married, and went with her husband and their young son to Seneca territory in western New York. Her husband died on the journey. Dehgewanus remarried there, and had six more children. The American Army destroyed the Seneca village during the American Revolutionary War as part of a retaliation for the Cherry Valley massacre, led by Senecas including Dehgewanus husband who were allied with the British. Dehgewanus and her children fled, joined later by her husband. They lived in relative peace in the Gardeau Flats, and she was known as the Old White Woman of the Genesee. By 1797 she was a large landowner. She was naturalized as an American citizen in 1817. In 1823 a writer, James Seaver, interviewed her and the next year published The Life and Times of Mrs. Mary Jemison. When the Senecas sold the land to which theyd moved, they reserved land for her use. She sold the land in 1831 and moved to a reservation near Buffalo, where she died on September 19, 1833. In 1847 her descendents had her reburied near her Genesee River home, and a marker stands there in Letchworth Park. Comparison of The Thirteenth Tale and Wuthering...

â€Å"All children mythologize their birth. It is a universal trait. You want to know someone? Heart, mind, and soul? Ask him to tell you about when he was born. What you get won’t be the truth; it will be a story. And nothing is more telling than a story.† – Vida Winter, Tales of Change and Desperation (Setterfield). The two novels The Thirteenth Tale, by Diane Setterfield, and Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte were written decades apart, yet they have similar elements. Wuthering Heights is a work of gothic fiction with some Victorian elements as well. Being that the two novels are so similar is it plausible that The Thirteenth Tale could be considered gothic fiction. It seems to fall under that category. They both use techniques such as the†¦show more content†¦Throughout the telling of the story Miss Winter often changes points of view from third to first person, from â€Å"they† to â€Å"we† to â€Å"I†. The first time she uses â€Å"I† is in the telling of Isabelle’s death and Charlie’s disappearance (Setterfield, 204). Whilst Nelly is telling the story, she more often is telling it in third person, but the telling of the story changes to first whenever it is a scene of which she is in. The telling of Wuthering Heights is a frame story with multi-layered, first – person narration (Tomlinson). The frame narrative is Lockwood’s tale as a traveler (outsider), he is hearing the family history through Ellen Dean (aka Nelly) without any background knowledge. The interior narrative is the history reiterated by Nelly (an insider with intimate knowledge) with help of other minor first-person narrators who are players in the Interior story and who break in occasionally (Tomlinson). Parts of the story that Nelly is sharing with Lockwood she heard from other characters through tertiary narration, and then later relays them to him [Lockwood] (Tomlinson). Tertiary narration is the rec ounting of eyewitness narrations by people who have played some part in the narration that is now being described (Tomlinson). There are a few scenes in which Catherine is conversing with Nelly. Nelly is reiterating what Catherine shared with her during those discussions. After Isabella runs away with Heathcliff to be married she writes a letter to Nelly explaining what is

The Dynamic Capabilities Theory Of The Organization

The knowledge is part of all spheres, levels, department in the company, that also has partnership with universities, institutions as well laboratories, apart from IBM’s laboratories. The Organization invest in a massive structure of learning, from Business, organizational, as examples for rules, practice and guidelines, until science for developing new technologies. In this way, as the information are available for all employees, this can contribute to reduce power and influence, as internally, between leader and followers, as such, as stimulate the individual development. Disney Princess Analyzation free essay sample

Although numerous celebrities have tried to compete, there is no denying that the only women that have remained every girl’s role model since the days of light-up sneakers are the Disney princesses. They have shiny, quaffed hair, elegant ball gowns, and unnaturally perfect smiles without awkward middle school head-gear (it glimmered in its own way†¦). So, how can it be that five animated women came to dominate every single, squishy girl soul from the ages zero to one hundred? Deception. Of course you never noticed when you were little because you were too focused on coloring inside the lines, but the Disney Princesses we grew up on, the REAL Disney princesses, are just the opposite of role models for women in society today. Bippity- Boppity- Blasphemy Poor Cinderella created every single feaux blonde in the school roaming the halls for her â€Å"prince charming†. Guess what? A boy who has a foot fetish is most likely not your type†¦ Since when has judging a person on their outer appearance every lead to a happy ever after? After one little glance, Cinderella decides she loves Prince Charming (he must use Axe hair products), and Prince Charming decides he loves Cinderella (seriously? I feel like I’m watching â€Å"The Bachelor†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦). We will write a custom essay sample on Disney Princess Analyzation or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page After years of being knee deep in crud and talking to vermin, Cinderella loses her beautiful ball gown and pristine carriage to marry her prince. In essence, do your chores, get yourself a stud, and aspire to do absolutely nothing†¦ â€Å"Tricks as Old as Time, Song as Old as Rhyme† Belle has beauty and intellect, making her the most dangerous of all princesses. At the surface, it would seem that Belle would be every mother’s glory child because she values education and is very family oriented. Belle is locked in a tower because her father was lost in the woods (ladies and gentleman, the only man in the world without a Smartphone†¦) and begins to fall in love with a beast. At the end of this â€Å"fairy tale† Belle changes the physical features of the beast with â€Å"love† and they live happily ever after. Belle created the â€Å"nagging wife† and lead girls to believe that they could change a man. Part of your†¦ Wonder Bra? Thanks to Ariel, Bras are now a substitute for a shirt. Besides influencing nudist societies, Ariel was the spokeswoman (no pun intended) for airheaded women. Ariel falls in love with Prince Phillip and trades in her beautiful voice for legs (and this, my friends, is when physical attributes became more important than talent). Somehow, Prince Phillip falls in love with Ariel and they get married, even though she has not said a single syllable to him. Ariel teaches young women not to have opinions. As long as you are pretty, or willing to pay the price of extreme plastic surgery, you will live your happily ever after! Wake up, Sleeping Beauty! Sadly, most girls wouldn’t realize that Aurora is Sleeping Beauty! Her name should just be enough! When a man calls you beautiful every now and then, it’s endearing, but when he calls you nothing but â€Å"beautiful† it’s because he doesn’t know your name (or he is genuinely afraid of mixing it up with the other women’s names†¦. ). Sleeping Beauty is just a good way to call someone a lazy butt. Aurora is the reason that women sleep 16 plus hours to get their â€Å"beauty sleep† (hunny, that much sleep is doing just the opposite). Princess Aurora is the epiphany of your best friend whose boyfriend lives in Jamanji working as a doctor that heals sick fairies and models part time ( OH YEAH!! He doesn’t exist†¦). She spends all of her time daydreaming for things that she wants in life instead of actually working to get them. Men don’t just fall out of the sky and land in your woods, Aurora; time to stop talking to squirrels and start talking to studs. The Side-effects of Poison Apples Unless you are the kind of girl that can win a lottery with one ticket, Snow White is not a safe route for a role model. Simply said, she is the luckiest son-of-a-gun that can survive taking candy from a Stranger (if there was a van, she would have jumped into it too). Snow White taught young girls to be naive and to just assume that society is always good (how’s that for a little burst of sunshine? ). She also teaches that you can only make friends by doing all of their chores for them and that, when you really get yourself into a pickle, you need a man to make it all better. And the Clock Strikes Midnight What the heck was Disney thinking? It’s a good thing we have women like Brittney Spears and Miley Cyrus that we can look up to ( oh yeah, we don’t! ). The world of the perfect, subservient woman has been shattered and Disney has started to make reparations for a lifetime of misconceptions. New Disney Princesses, such as Merida and Tatiana, exemplify strong, fierce women with laudable integrity. While the original Disney princesses may not be the best to take notes on, it’s like watching Lindsey Lohan get yet another DUI: you know it’s bad, but there is no denying it is entertaining.

Clockwork Orange Essays - A Clockwork Orange, Self-censorship

Clockwork Orange This novel is short?only being about 180 pages?but looks may deceive you, or in other words don't judge a book buy its cover or its thickness. A Clockwork Orange is actually 360 pages because you have to read between the lines. You may think that the story's theme is that the future will be filled with horrible decadent violence (that is what I first thought), but if you read between the lines you will understand that this book is written for one main purpose, a purpose other than entertainment. A Clockwork Orange was written in 1962, story about the future which was meant to be around 1995 to 2000 (a car used in the story called a 95' Durango). A boy about seventeen, Alex the narrator and main character living in London, rampages about with his "droogs" (friends) raping, stealing, beating and even killing people. Alex one day is caught for murder and jailed but two years later he is luckily freed twelve years before his sentence ends to take advantage of a new treatment for violent people like him that he volunteered for. He goes through the therapy and succeeds and returns back to civilization. He now becomes sick when he is about to commit a violent or sexual, but also when the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven plays (a minor defect from the treatment). Alex is driven to attempt suicide from this defect because he is locked within a chamber playing this song and does not accomplish his task. He is hospitalized and returns to his "ultra-violent" self while the inhumane treatment does not work because it does not even give people a choice about being violent. While Alex helps to present the theme, two different outcomes are formed. First, Alex goes through a great change from being"ultra- violent" to becoming Lamb-chop and then back to being"ultra-violent". Second, the theme defines the major conflict of the story. Although the conflict does not have to do with Alex directly, he helps to illustrate it. The conflict is not solved in the book and will probably never be solved, but it does bring up for debate what Anthony Burgess thinks about right or wrong, regarding the controversial situation of a cycle of violence. "Violence makes Violence," is what was once said to Alex by P. R. Deltoid, his teacher from school before he went to prison. This book brings up . What do we do to someone who has committed a violent crime? Do we punish them with more violence, for instance death, or do we help them? This is the problem that has arisen in this story and also in our daily lives with the death penalty. Anthony Burgess thinks that the solution to violence should not be violence, but he does not give any alternatives. In A Clockwork Orange a new treatment for disturbingly violent criminals is developed by scientists working for the English government and the government tests it on some convicted violent prisoners. The treatment guaranteed that the patient would turn good and be let out into the free world again. Alex was one of the lucky (because of reduced sentence) people chosen. The treatment includes long days of watching violent movie clips while a patient is hooked up to a lot of hardware. The treatment works because now when a ex-criminal sees or are about to commit cruel violent or criminal or sexual acts you become sick and cannot perform the task. This procedure was thought of to end violence without causing violence, because every action causes a reaction. For example, when Alex was free to return to his life, his "droogs" betray him and beat him up severely in payback for his cruel ruling as leader of the team of friends. This might cause Alex to come back and hurt them again, which he considers. This causes a chain of violence that may take years to end. When Alex is about to go to Dr. Brodsky (the man who will cure him), the governor speaks to Alex. He told him about how these new radical ideas and methods of treatment have been formed (from "ultra-violent" to a lamb), and he does not approve of them. "If someone hits you, you hit back, do you not," the governor said to Alex. The governor means that for each action there will be a solution of even more violence. The preceding brings up the question of turning the bad into the good or the "state should hit back" also like the

Picasso's Guernica Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Picasso's Guernica - Essay Example The essay "Picassos Guernica" provides a critique on Pablo Picasso’s "Guernica". Picasso was quite clear in being intentional with the underlying meaning of his work. Undoubtedly, this painting’s underpinnings suggest a build-up of fomented bitterness regarding the war and its effects on Spain and its people. This is clearly demonstrated through the the perspective of the work, Cubism. The aesthetic nature of Guernica is striking, due to the fact that it is painted in three colors only: black, white, and grey. Notwithstanding perspective, the use of materials is significant, as the is theway in which the Guernica was composed. Further, both the inherent and hidden meanings, unintended and intentional in nature, extricate a rich world of meaning that gives it a life all its own. Here, one will consider perspective and use of materials, including the element of composition; and, notwithstanding, an explanation regarding the meaning behind Guernica will be duly attempted. Perspective is very important in Picasso’s Guernica. Like many of his works during the war period, Picasso chose to do this painting in the style of Cubism. The elements of Cubism that make it so distinct are the boxy qualities of the faces and bodies in the painting, which are designed from multiple perspectives—head-on, from the right side, and from the left side. Technicallly speaking, the people and animals with Cubist elements in Picasso’s painting Guernica tend to have anguished-looking faces and mangled bodies. †¨Ã¢â‚¬ ¨ This adds to a sense of foreboding in the work and gives the painting an an all-around pervasively haunting quality. Perspective is a particularly interesting problematic in Guernica, as one can see automatically that there is a twisted mindset-a tortured soul, if one wills-which lies within the source of the painting. The perspective sets the mood and the tone for Guernica, obviously giving it depressing yet action-filled nuances. The use of materials in Guernica speaks volumes about the painting itself and what the artist sought to achieve. Guernica is a rather large painting (349 X 777 cm), having been put behind bullet-proof glass at one point in order to protect it. The largeness of the painting denotes the importance it had in Picasso's mind. Guernica instantly makes an impression upon the viewer at first sight, due to its relatively huge size. The painting's size is meant to be large for a reason; it is supposed to overwhelm the viewer. The fact that the painting was done in oil was probably a matter of comfort for Picasso; it was a medium that allowed for subtle changes without having to rework the entire painting-unlike other mediums such as acrylic or watercolor-where one mistake could ruin the piece in its entirety. III. Composition The fact that Picasso's Guernica is painted in the various stark shades of black, white, and grey,

- managing small business - Research Paper Example RAYZ is small company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, having business interests in digital marketing and social media. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the behaviour of small business with respect to established theories and principles, taking RAYZ as an example. In most of the developed countries such as the United States and United Kingdom, big companies or corporates contribute heavily to economic development whereas in developing countries such as India and China, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in streamlining economic progress. Small business or SME has different definitions in different countries. As the name indicates, small business or SME is nothing but a business in which the revenue generated and the number of employees working is below certain standards. These standards will be different in different countries. While the United States has not set any criteria for defining SMEs, the European Union defines Small enterprise as a company with fewer than 50 employees, and medium-sized enterprise as a company with fewer than 250 employees (Investopedia, 2015). Saudi Arabia is one of the most rapidly developing states in the Middle East at present. As in the case of India and China, SMEs contribute heavily to the development of the KSA. Teaching and Learning Policy Essay Example for Free

Teaching and Learning Policy Essay Learning is a dynamic process which begins at the time of conception and continues for the rest of our lives. At stages along this learning journey we partake in formalised learning in which we may interact with other human beings who may take on the role of teacher. This invariably happens within the confines of a school. The school being the environment designed to help pass on the knowledge, skills and qualities required as preparation for adult life. Our school is a section of a partnership involving pupils, families, the local and extended communities and school staff that give all the opportunity to develop each child’s formal learning and to promote everyone’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development . In this way our school is pivotal in the formation and preparation of opportunities, responsibilities and experiences for life. This policy is for all teaching staff, Governors, parents, members of the community and appropriate outside agencies, including OFSTED, to appreciate our drive for high expectations and our strategies for ensuring that teaching and learning are effective. It sits alongside all other curriculum and management policies including the policy for ‘Performance Management’. It should also be read in conjunction with OFSTED documents and other relevant information including â€Å"The Code of Conduct for Teachers† that will drive our standards forward. Making a Difference Much work has been done on how pupils learn and multiple intelligence theories. This policy considers how as practitioners we can motivate all to ensure effective learning. Research suggests that there are many ways to ensure that effective learning takes place within the different learning environments that a child may encounter within a school. All staff have the ability to make a difference and all must consider the following: †¢ There is no one right way to teach, but teachers and TAs enhance their  effectiveness when teaching is purposeful, efficient, clear, structured and adaptive. Good teaching takes into account all aspects of assessment, prior learning and the individual needs of each child. †¢ High expectations are paramount †¢ Good teaching involves more than exposition and arranging activities; the nature of the interaction is carefully designed, with differentiation matched closely to pupils’ actual abilities and needs. †¢ Good teaching is where the pupils are given opportunity to extend their ability to take charge of their own learning. It is where teachers establish active links to enhance pupils’ learning styles. †¢ The effective learning environment is orderly, stimulating, attractive, safe and supportive. †¢ The effective teaching atmosphere encourages learners to value and draw on their own experience †¢ Good lessons are carefully planned and involve pupil participation as often as possible. They have pace, good questioning strategies and opportunity for reflection. †¢ Learning to learn entails increasing scope for pupils to use their initiative and to develop a capacity for independent work according to age range. †¢ Effective teaching occurs when pupils are given opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they are taught. †¢ Effective learning design allows pupils to summarise what they have experienced and reflect carefully †¢ And effective teaching is complemented by fair discipline, positive reinforcement, and explicit formative feedback. Every member of staff must consider their professional characteristics and reflect and analyse how each pupils’ learning can be enhanced in preparation for the future. It is the role of all staff to dissect their teaching to ensure outstanding teaching and learning opportunities for each child. Monitoring Of Teaching and Learning Monitoring is a regular feature of our school and has become embedded into the culture and working life of our school life .It enables all to have an accurate picture of performance and developments in learning. It is a positive attribute in moving the school forward. Monitoring will occur in a variety of forms :- †¢ Regular monitoring of lessons as part of Performance Management. †¢ Monitoring of lessons as part of specific school initiatives and developments. This will include in-depth monitoring of the core subjects. †¢ Half termly classroom monitoring on working environments and pupils’ learning. †¢ Half termly monitoring of planning and assessment files. †¢ Half termly monitoring of pupils’ books by SMT and appropriate co- ordinators. †¢ Weekly monitoring of books as part of phase meetings. †¢ Weekly light touch monitoring on specific subjects to increase our overall effectiveness and efficiency. Monitoring will positively support teaching staff through :- †¢ Improving individual and team performance †¢ Expanding skills, knowledge and insight for all †¢ Providing a supportive working environment for all †¢ Improving communication that results in improved learning opportunities for pupils. †¢ Identifying individual, team and school needs. †¢ Developing individuals monitoring skills as part of the school’s effectiveness and efficiency. Monitoring is about accountability and will give all the opportunity to discuss positively and staff will be given feedback on lesson observation and scrutiny of their planning and pupils’ work. Written feedback will include a summary of agreed actions to be put in place for the following round of monitoring. Monitoring of lessons, planning, pupil’s work and associated self reviews will provide the basis for the School Development Plan and the vehicle from which Governors and all other interested agencies can gain on the effectiveness of our school. Induction of New Staff To ensure that all new staff have a successful induction and immediately enhance the learning of pupils, the school will allocate a member of staff to work alongside the new member. School procedures and expectations will be discussed and the opportunity to set out the professional needs of the  member of staff will be formalised. Appropriate professional development will be instigated and expectations set. Continued Professional Development Effective CPD is a planned progress. It will be the systematic and progressive improvement of competencies across the school. It is about the meeting of individual and the school objectives and therefore is intrinsically linked with the Performance Management policy, the School’s Development Plan, pupil performance and the needs of the individual. CPD will be designed to meet the individual’s immediate and future needs, it will give a structure to each person’s career development whilst having an impact on pupils’ learning However, each person must take responsibility for reviewing and fulfilling their own needs and school will hold each accountable for developing their own potential. The individual therefore must continually assess their needs and discuss issues with appropriate senior managers. The SDP for each school academic year is available for all working or involved within school. It gives the direction for the school and will indicate how CPD will be organised. Each individual’s performance management objectives will reflect the needs of school and the individual. Planning, Preparation and Assessment Planning, preparation and assessment time is organised so that teachers can work with appropriate colleagues. It gives opportunity for the termly and weekly plans to be scrutinised, assessment of learning analysed and the learning needs of the pupils met. Each phase leader will organise the sessions so that each teacher can maximise the time available. During the sessions the following will occur:- †¢ A selection of books will be scrutinised to ensure marking, presentation and that progress is consistent and of high quality. †¢ Work is analysed and assessment drives the next planning. †¢ The needs  of groups including DSEN and Gifted and Talented pupils are discussed and appropriate planning is put in place. Differentiation is put in place. †¢ Target setting is put in place, monitored and updated. †¢ IEPs are updated as appropriate and new IEPs written at the relevant times. †¢ The needs of staff are discussed and information, as required, passed on to the SMT. †¢ Teaching and classroom practise are discussed †¢ Relevant plans and information is prepared for TAs †¢ The sessions will also discuss resources and ICT All teaching members of staff are given specific details on the formats for planning and the layout of files. These will be scrutinised at phase meetings and by the SMT and co-ordinators throughout the school year to ensure corporative effectiveness. The different forms of assessment are dealt with in the Assessment Policy. All teaching staff must use the information and apply the knowledge to their teaching. Assessment must be consistently used to drive teaching and learning forward. Within this, target setting must be active with all pupils understanding their targets and how they can achieve them. Parents must also be updated of their child’s targets using the school’s pro- formas. Targets must be displayed in classrooms and within the pupils’ books for core subjects. Marking and Feedback to Pupils. The Marking Policy deals with marking issues in detail. Teaching staff must be up to date in marking and marking must give clear indications of how the pupil can move forward appropriate to age . Comments must be positive and opportunity must be given for pupils to act on comments and work on issues that have arisen. Marking will be scrutinised at phase meetings, whole staff meetings, through coordinators monitoring and by the SMT. Pupils will be asked through interviews and in monitoring whether marking and feedback has improved learning. Resources Regular audits of resources are to be carried out by coordinators and phase leaders prior to each block of work is undertaken. Within this remit is the organising of school visits and appropriate visitors to enhance the curriculum and learning opportunities. Pupil Premium, the grant to provide increased opportunities for pupils and to improve learning and reduce gaps between groups of pupils, will be used in part to fund these enhancements. The Pupils’ Voice As stated, good learning is facilitated when pupils have the opportunity to take charge of their own learning. Pupils have a voice and at all keystages staff must give credence to pupils and include them in the planning and delivery of lessons. By monitoring of planning and through discussions with pupils, the SMT will look for this. Prior to specific blocks of work, appropriate to age, pupils will be given time to consider the work ahead and give input. To ensure that every child has the opportunity to gain the range of learning skills to prepare them for life, teaching staff’s planning must show that within lessons pupils have ownership of their learning through teamwork, problem solving, research etc. The Role of Governors The Governing Body of is given at each full governing body meeting and at appropriate sub committee meetings details of monitoring and the review of performance and attainment across the school. As part of its role, the Governing Body will scrutinise our results from monitoring, assessment and internal reviews and ensure that our approaches are consistent and promotes our drive for excellence. Each Governor is linked with a specific area of school and will be in termly contact with co-ordinators to ensure they are fully briefed on teaching and learning. Co-ordinators of core subjects will report to governors termly to again ensure accurate information is passed on. From this the Governing Body will be active in teaching and learning across school. Informing Parents To ensure effective learning for our pupils, parents have to be an informed and active partner. Courses are run throughout the year to update parents on our teaching techniques and strategies so that they can support learning at home and help with homework. Termly Parent feedback sessions are held to update parents on their child’s attainment and progress. At these sessions parents will be given written information on their child’s targets and next steps. They will be given their child’s levels for the core subjects and how this compares to national statistics. For DSEN up to date information will be given and discussed. IEPs will be available for parents to sign and remark on. Yearly school reports will be issued in the summer term and will accurately reflect on the child’s attainment and attitudes. It will also give targets for the next academic year and how parents can support their child. Informal discussions will also take place throughout the year as required to keep parents informed. The Parent Support Adviser is available to help liaise with parents. The PSA will also arrange parent courses to upgrade the parents’ own skills in core subjects, these will have a direct positive effect on pupils’ learning as seen from past experience. Outside Agencies Walsall Children’s Services support school through a variety of important vehicles. The School Improvement Officer will routinely meet with staff and discuss improvement, initiatives, data and monitoring of teaching. Officers will also oversee teaching and learning and support school with CPD issues. Other outside agencies such as Walsall Business Partnership will be used to support the curriculum and maximise learning opportunities for pupils. The school works with local schools and local communities also to improve learning opportunities and inspire pupils.

Cappies Reviews For Up The Down Staircase

A young, ambitious teacher nurtures the hope of changing the lives of high schoolers by awakening their love in classic literature; however, her innocence causes her to underestimate the rowdiness of her students. Laguna Hill’s production of Up the Down Staircase is a heartwarming play that shows the growing bond between a teacher and her students. This play was made into a film in 1967. Sylvia Barrett is a caring young lady who becomes a teacher in a big city in the hopes of becoming â€Å"friends† with her students.Eventually, she decides to leave the school because she thinks she isn’t making of school. With her head bowed, and her hands quietly laid behind her back, Sylvia shuffles into her homeroom, gazing out at the daunting space as if it were filled with poisonous snakes. It is from this weak, almost pathetic child that Sylvia grows alongside her unruly students. As they, the â€Å"mob† turn from curious agitation to open hostility towards their op pressive English overlord, so too does Sylvia's innocent nature become calloused with anger and frustration. It is in the wake of Alice Blake's (Megan Crayne Beall) accident, the young girl, who's love struck mind still had time to do the homework Ms. Sylvia assigned her, that the entire class comes together. The student's desks, at first turned away from not only the audience, but also Sylvia, slowly turned to face her, symbolizing not only acceptance, but also a powerful unity created not by discipline or fear, but by love and respect. Sylvia's cold-hearted nature melts away and is replaced by confidence and compassion. No longer does she stay rooted to the front of the class, allowing anger and resentment to grow within her, but she moves about, concern for the future of her students written on every expression, and detailed in all her staging. Laguna Hills' â€Å"Up the Down Staircase† is a captivating story of one woman's compassion triumphing over the ignorance of society . With high energy and phenomenal stage chemistry, the entire cast puts on a show to remember.

Oberlin has a distinguished history as the first college to grant undergraduate degrees to women. In addition to the College of Arts and Sciences, which has an 11-to-1  student/faculty ratio and a chapter of  Phi Beta Kappa, Oberlins Conservatory of Music has a strong international reputation. Considering applying to Oberlin? Here are the admissions statistics you should know, including average SAT/ACT scores and GPAs of admitted students. Students with particularly compelling stories or achievements can still receive serious consideration even if their grades and test scores are outside of Oberlins range. Finally, you can strengthen your application by participating in a recommended optional interview. Note that the Conservatory of Music has a separate application process which includes an audition. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. Most successful applicants had high school averages of A- or higher, combined SAT scores of 1300 or higher (ERWM), and ACT composite scores of 28 or better. The Modern Greek Tragedy Antigone - 1602 Words

Outspoken people are significant in bringing forth changes and ideas contributing to making a more fair and just society. The word outspoken as defined by the dictionary is: â€Å"to be frank in stating one’s opinions, especially if they are critical or controversial† (Google Search). Observing history, it can be noted that a large portion of the most influential people were the most outspoken; it can be noted that these figures were courageous and bold. Historical figures from all different fields held a sense of outspokenness in presenting themselves because their ideas defied prevalent ideas and societal norms of their time. People who took a stand in their time became some of the most influential and most prominent historical figures that craft our world today. Socrates demonstrates the significance of outspokenness through the characters in his classical Greek tragedy Antigone. Parallel to Antigone, historical figures in our own world exhibit courage through outspo kenness. Characters from Socrates’ Antigone supports the claim that bold people can bring forth change in a society. Three characters fit the description well: Antigone, Haemon, and Tiresias. She proved courage through her refusal to abide by Creon’s cruel law against burying her own brother Polyneices. Question: Discuss about the International Sweatshop from a Utilitarian Point of View. Answer: Introduction The report will discuss in detail about the international sweatshop from a utilitarian point of view. There has been a lot of discussion related with the sweatshops which can be defined by different forums like International Labor Rights Forum where a company is able to violet two and sometimes more laws like labor law. These kinds of laws can be associated with concerning remuneration, with working hours and bad working condition with so many disciplinary actions and safety. Employees working in Sweatshop are usually perceived as tortured, beaten and harassed in all sense at every possible occasion (Schlegelmilch, 2016). At the same time, there are arguments which says that sweatshop do violate laws which bring more advantages than any other kind of harm in long run. On the other hand, it is also being argued that the sweatshops must be immediately abolished because of the usage of bad working conditions. International sweatshops from an act utilitarian point of view The theory of Utilitarianism was founded by John Stuart Mill and the theory is developed on the basis of a principle of Greatest Happiness Principle, which is based on the rightness of any kind of action taken with right amount of happiness which can further be promoted among people. It is important to understand here that the more happiness any kind of action produces better is the situation and vice-a-versa. The principle of utilitarianism also says that the usage of sweatshops will be looked as bad or negative thing (Schlegelmilch, 2016). As discussed before, the concept of utilitarianism is primarily based on the amount of happiness that any action is able to promote. In taking right decisions, an individual want to pick several alternatives that can help in promoting the maximum happiness with less pain and solutions. This principle thus depends mainly on quantities because the basis is on the amount of pain as well as pleasure. At the same time, quality plays an important role and is also taken as some type of pleasure which makes it desirable further as well as valuable than any other. It is also true that people who have more requirements have to promote the concept of happiness more and vice-a-versa (Ballet et al, 2014). The greatest happiness principle also based on how right an action can be and how great can be solution of any kind of action and the amount of pleasure taken from the results. In case of sweatshops, the pain usually overpowers the happiness and pleasure. If perspective of a businessman is taken, while using the concept of sweatshops, there are lots of pleasures because of this. Greater profits can be gained in order to have a cheaper cost for which highly paid labor was utilized. Here money is taken as a main source of happiness (Schumacher et al, 2015). In the present case, the workforce must also face so many challenges along with sufferings. The labor also suffers because people can earn little amount of money to work for long time period in bad situations for working. The overall payment earned is never sufficient and not sufficient for supporting the families on salaries which also keep them surviving in long term. It is vital to gain more clarity about the lot of amount based on suffering to sweatshop workforce and it is also greater them profit earned for the business gain for using them because sweatshops never really follows the principles especially principle of Happiness (Allhoff et al, 2016). This is why, utilitarian concept normally agrees with the fact that use of sweatshop is not ideal thing and therefore, the amount of pain cause is much more than the profits. Effect on foreign workers When there is a rise in the level of international trade then there is lift in millions of people out from bad situations like poverty and bad working conditions. As per World Bank, the overall population which is living under the poverty line is actually defined as an income group people that are equal to one US dollar every day or even lesser. The level of poverty has fallen in the quicker manner in different areas of the world especially for those countries that have globalized in the rapid manner like China. On the other hand poverty level has increased in those areas that are far from globalization specifically some region in Africa. Factors like openness for trade and development brings as well as also exerts a positive kind of influence on the overall welfare of children in some developing countries by decreasing the rate of child labor . The global or international labor communities can be reported that there are number of people like children in the workforce rather than in school all across the world that has been dropped by eleven percent approximately. Going global or concept of globalization is an important factor for making positive kind of trend in child labor. Since the overall incomes rises in number of developing nation, specifically where wages are paid to females members with few families faces the economic significance of sending the children out to work. The studies also confirm that participation from labor forces by children age of 10 to 14 is declining with rise in GNP per capita. There is majority of child labor which is toiling in number of developing and under developed countries work in sectors which is far removed from international economy (Everett et al, 2017). There is usually more than eighty percent of work which goes without pay and normally for those parents or families living in bad conditions or under the poverty line. Most of the other labor work for so many small scale local businesses which are typically for the non-tra ded services like shining of the shoes, delivery of newspaper and other kind of local or domestic services. In places like Australia and New Zealand, trade based liberalization and other kind of reforms in past twenty years have spurred not just on development in level of income and it can also be measurable the progress on social level. The World Bank also says that the rate of literacy for people working especially under the age of 15 have risen since 1980 (DesJardins McCall, 2014). Consequences of cheaper price and lost jobs for people in Australia and New Zealand There is constant debate on the long term benefits and its impact of it on the society. It has constantly being argued that concept of sweatshop should completely be diminished or removed since it is an outcome of impoverishment of number of country employees. It has been justified a lot of times that countries are part of bidding war by decreasing the minimum standard for wages to attract more and more international investment since high remuneration will restrict the overall growth. The employees or workers are also quite unaware of the real wage standard in global market and are also constantly experiencing false level of consciousness. As per number of researches at the time of privatization in growth nations, the countrys total inflow for FDI rose from twenty six percent to thirty seven percent during 90s (Carson, 2013). The outcomes in the present decline in living standards for workers since the interest is not properly protected as the minimum amount of wage is further reduce d to rise with FDI. Also people who oppose sweatshops are also some of the reason that sweatshops are actually contributing in increasing the gap that exist between the rice and the poor as well as among the countries. In the global context, many developed countries like Australia and New Zealand get a better amount of trade off because of rise in profit as compared to many host nations. As an outcome, this kind of gap exists between the poor as well as the rich countries are also increasing with time. Moreover, any kind of connection or alliances that exist between the elites of many developing nations and multinationals will finally lead to so many countries wealth which is collected in the hand of some people and companies. Rise in FDI in developing countries usually results in rise in the nations GDP. At the same time, there are some people that will earn more or higher power for purchasing and it exist in the hand of few people. Rise in overall consumption will finally lead to rise in the price and it further caused good and services way less affordable for the poor over a period of time (Langlois, 2014). Concept of corporate social responsibility in global business environment The concept of corporate social responsibility can be defined with the help of number of interest groups, companies and many academic scholars in so many manners. However, there is no kind of universally accepted concept of corporate social responsibility in the current literature. The concept that helps in understanding the concept is actually provided by World Business Council of Sustainable Development. The concept is defined the concept as the counting of the number of commitment by organization in order to be a part of economic growth and at the same time also improving the overall quality of the workforce and their life and society at large (Thomas, 2017). Anybody can easily break down the elements of CSR into two segments that have been considered time and again. These factors aim on the internal culture of the company which consists of concepts like treatment of minorities and women, relationship with employees and advancement based potential. These factors also aim on the ex ternal environment where concepts like environment friendly practices, external opinions associated with quality and perception of workforce compensation because of marketplace and various associated comparisons. In addition, there are three angles or dimensions to the concept of CSR as well that are economic, ethical and legal accountability (Singer, 2013). Conclusion There are some scandals like Nike and many other that tend to pay the workers more than local companies in the Third World culture. There are critics of the concept of Sweatshops that constantly maintain that since the subcontractors can make products for MNCs, calculating the wages of such firms does not address the complaints of the critics which is completely against the sweatshop. It is also important to address the overall deficiency in the present literature by constantly comparing the apparel or other similar sectors and the wages given by them in nations that are most probably have sweatshops and the wages provided by single company is constantly accused of being a sweatshop to calculate the averages standard of living in such nations (Singer, 2013). The surveys and other kind of data further shows that the workers in such industries are far from being better than most people in the economies. At the same time, the best option present is with data utilized which is actually f ar from the perfect. Biasness is also causing to undermine the earnings which work as a percentage of the current living standard. There are so many data restrictions and single companies are also accused of paying this sweatshop remuneration which can be compared in favorable manner with different kind of standards of living (Singer, 2013). The Taming Of The Shrew Analytic Play Review Essay Example For Students

The Taming Of The Shrew Analytic Play Review Essay The Taming Of The Shrew by William Shakespeare is probably one of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies. Its plot is derived from the popular ‘war of the sexes’ theme in which males and females are pitted against one another for dominance in marriage. The play begins with an induction in which a drunkard, Christopher Sly, is fooled into believing he is a king and has a play performed for him. The play he watches is what constitutes the main body of The Taming Of The Shrew. In it, a wealthy land owner, Baptista Minola, attempts to have his two daughters married. One is very shrewish, Katherine, while the other is the beautiful and gentle Bianca. In order to ensure Katherine is married, Baptista disallows Bianca to be espoused until Katherine is wed, forcing the many suitors to Bianca to find a mate for Katherine in order for them to vie for Bianca’s love. Many critics of the play condemn it for the blatant sexist attitude it has toward women but closer examination of the play and the intricacies of its structure reveal that it is not merely a story of how men should ‘put women in their place’. The play is, in fact, a comedy about an assertive woman coping with how she is expected to act in the society of the late sixteenth century and of how one must obey the unwritten rules of a society to be accepted in it. Although the play ends with her outwardly conforming to the norms of society, this is in action only, not in mind. Although she assumes the role of the obedient wife, inwardly she still retains her assertiveness. Most of the play’s humour comes from the way in which characters create false realities by disguising themselves as other people, a device first introduced in the induction. Initially this is accomplished by having Christopher Sly believe he is someone he is not and then by having the main play performed for him. By putting The Taming Of The Shrew in a ‘play within a play’ structure, Shakespeare immediately lets the audience know that the play is not real thus making all events in the play false realities. Almost all characters in the play take on identities other than their own at some point of time during the play. Sly as a king, Tranio as Lucentio, Lucentio as Cambio, Hortensio as Litio and the pedant as Vicentio are all examples of this. Another example of this is Katherine as an obedient wife. We will write a custom essay on The Taming Of The Shrew Analytic Play Review specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now In The Taming Of The Shrew, courtship and marriage are not so much the result of love but rather an institution of society that people are expected to take part in. As a result of the removal of romance from marriage, suitors are judged, not by their love for a woman, but by how well they can provide for her. All suitors compare the dowry each can bring to the marriage and the one with the most to offer ‘wins’ the woman’s hand in marriage. This competition for marriage is like a game to the characters of the play. While discussing the courtship of Bianca with Gremio, Hortensio says â€Å"He that runs fastest gets The ring† (Act I, scene i, l. 140-141) likening receiving permission to wed Bianca to winning a race. In the game, however, women are treated like objects that can be bought and sold rather than as human beings. This is expected since the society is a patriarchal one. For example, Lucentio, Tranio and Petruchio are all defined with reference to the ir fathers and all the elderly authority figures, like Baptista and Vicentio, are men. The taming of Katherine is not a women’s shrewishness being cured as much as it is a woman being taught the rules of the ‘patriarchal game’. Katherine has learned how to be assertive and with this knowledge is able to control men, and a woman controlling a man is considered ‘against the rules’ of the game. The play ends with Katherine proving that she is truly cured of her ’shrewishness’ and is the most obedient of the three newlywed wives at the end of the play. .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 , .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .postImageUrl , .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 , .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:hover , .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:visited , .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:active { border:0!important; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:active , .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385 .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1e0fc7706fe5d77bcf18549994f18385:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: My Mother is a Hero EssayThis is demonstrated in her soliloquy when she lectures the other wives on the proper way in which a woman should behave: I am ashamed that women are so simple To offer war where they should kneel for peace, Or seek rule, supremacy, and sway, When they are bound to serve, love, and obey. (Act V, scene ii, l. 161 164) Although most critics interpret the play as being that of a woman finally acting the way in which she is supposed to act, it is difficult to believe that a character as vibrant and strong-willed as Katherine is changed so easily. Following with the device of false realities that Shakespeare set in place so early in the play, it would seem more logical that Katherine would simply be acting the part of ‘the obedient wife’ in order to be accepted in the society in which she lives. Katherine can ‘play a part’ very well and can even enjoy doing it. This is shown on the road to Padua from Petruchio’s house when Kate is forced to address Vincentio as a woman and says, â€Å"Young budding virgin, fair and fresh and sweet† (Act IV, scene v, l. 37). The Taming Of The Shrew is a light-hearted comedy that is better seen than read. This is especially true since a lot of the humour in it is physical or ’slapstick’ humour which is possible only on stage. The complexity of the play is refreshing, as many of the modern plays of today are quite linear and do little to keep a reader’s attention. Another favourable aspect of it is the subplot involving Lucentio and Bianca which lends itself as the basis for many humourous moments, most notably between Lucentio, Hortensio and Bianca. The obvious sexist attitude of the play does not hinder it because of the reasons stated above. One must also take into account the attitudes of sixteenth century England and the fact that the play is a comedy and is not meant to be taken seriously.

Hacking Computers and Ethics essays

Hacking Computers and Ethics essays What comes to mind when you hear the word hacker? For most it means stealing information through the Internet, gaining illegal access to another persons PC, or simply - disruptive behavior using a computer. The subject of hacking is no secret to the general public. Many people have been exposed to it by a bad experience or through the news and media. The idea of hacking that is stuck in the minds of people is that of which they have seen in the movies. The movies portray hackers as young and devious criminals. However, in reality these individuals are, talented people who use their abilities to find new and challenging ways to change how computers work. According to the Cult of the Dead Cow, a hacking organization, true hackers do not get into the system to erase everything or to sell the information to someone else. They get in there to satisfy their curiosity to see if getting into the system can be done, to search around inside of a place they have never been, and to explore the little nooks and crannies of cyberspace. Of course there are those who erase files from other peoples computers, steal information from cyberspace, and vandalize web pages. These people are not hackers, as the media calls them, they are known as crackers. Hackers use their vast knowledge to better the computer industry. Hacking started even before computers became popular. The earliest forms of hacking started in the 1960s, when AT & T was the only phone company. Back then the telephone was taken for granted and the way the phone system worked was a complete mystery. Phones were considered an early form of the computer. Those that tried to understand the phone system more and find ways to make free phone calls from pay phones were known as phreakers. This was an amateur form of telephone hacking. The way this was done was by using the old rotary dial pay phones with three slots for a nickel, dime, and quarter. The phreaker wo...
